Description
2009 Dodge Journey Transponder Key Y170PT 5909874
This is a transponder key. The blade is Y170 and the chip is 46 Philips Crypto CAN. This works on any Chrysler Dodge Jeep vehicles which use a Fobik style remote but don’t have Keyless-Go (push button start on dash.) Have a local locksmith cut the key to work your vehicle. If you have two keys that already start your vehicle (doesn’t matter if one is a pod key and one is a fobik remote key, or if both are one kind) then you will be able to program the vehicle to start with additional keys yourself. If not, you’ll need a local automotive locksmith to program the vehicle by scan tool. An interesting thing about this key is that cutting the key enables you to open the door lock but it isn’t necessary for use in the ignition.
To add additional keys to your vehicle:
1. Insert the first valid FOBIK or POD key into the ignition and turn the ignition on for more than 3 seconds but less than 15 seconds. Turn the ignition off and remove the first key.
2. Within 15 seconds, use the second valid FOBIK or POD key to turn the ignition to on. After 10 seconds a chime will sound and the theft alarm light will begin to flash. Turn the ignition to off and remove the second valid FOBIK or POD key.
3. Insert the new invalid key into the ignition and turn the ignition to on within 60 seconds. After 10 seconds a single chime will sound. The theft alarm light will stop flashing, then it will turn on for 3 seconds; then it will turn off.
The new FOBIK or POD key has been validated and will be able to start the vehicle. If it was a FOBIK then the remote will now operate the keyless entry system.
Repeat this procedure for up to 8 keys.
