2001 Jeep Cherokee Transponder Key Y160PT 692325 5905612

This is a transponder key. The blade is Y160 and the chip is 64 Texas Crypto 3rd Gen. This works on many Chrysler Dodge Jeep Plymouth vehicles. Have a local locksmith cut the key to work your vehicle. If you have two keys that already start your vehicle (doesn’t matter if one is a transponder key and one is a remote head key, or if both are one kind) then you will be able to program the vehicle to start with additional keys yourself. If not, you’ll need a local automotive locksmith to program the vehicle by scan tool.

To add additional keys to your vehicle:

1. Insert the first valid key into the ignition and turn the ignition on for more than 3 seconds but less than 15 seconds. Turn the ignition off and remove the first key.

2. Within 15 seconds, use the second valid key to turn the ignition to on. After 10 seconds a chime will sound and the theft alarm light will begin to flash. Turn the ignition to off and remove the second key.

3. Insert the newly cut invalid key into the ignition and turn the ignition to on within 60 seconds. After 10 seconds a single chime will sound. The theft alarm light will stop flashing, then it will turn on for 3 seconds; then it will turn off.

The new key has been validated and will be able to start the vehicle. You can repeat this procedure until you have 8 keys working on the vehicle.
